Austria and the Passion Play in Oberammergau
We are excited to be leading this trip to Oberammergau for the once-in-a-decade experience of the Passion Play, performed by the villagers in thanksgiving for safety from the plague centuries ago. Staying in the glorious Austrian Tyrol, with a 2 night visit to Oberammergau for its world-famous play with top-grade tickets for the performance, we will enjoy the magnificent natural beauty of the scenery, visit Ettal Monastery, and have time to relax, as well as join in with daily devotionals and worship.
We will have 3 days of optional walks, including one on the Jacobsweg, the old pilgrimage route across Europe to Santiago de Compostella, and one by the Achensee (for those who read The Chalet School books, it’s the Tiernsee!) Walks will be moderate - about 8 miles each, and one is walking down from having taken the cable car up! Glorious views, a gorgeous hotel, and excellent seats for the Passion Play on the Sunday.
FOR NON-WALKERS: However, you don't have to do the walks - you can choose to make the most of the spa and pool and beautiful gardens at our hotel; or potter locally; or go into Innsbruck; or do a shorter walk with the hotel guide each day (a small extra charge for the local walk is payable direct to the hotel)
PLEASE NOTE:
this pilgrimage is currently fully booked! There is a waiting list in case of last minute cancellations so if you would like to be added to that please email me.
Full details and a booking form are in the brochure which is below; it can also be emailed or posted to you - please send your details to penelopeswithinbank@mac.com
