Celebrating ALLHALLOWTIDE?
Hallow’e’en - the abbreviated form of All Hallows Eve. Oh, and read on for a Very. Special. Offer…….
All Hallows Evening.
Known today as Halloween, all apostrophes removed. Surrounded by pumpkins and candy and dressing up costumes.
And scary skeletons, cobwebs, witches, gravestones.
All Hallows, November 1st , was the day chosen to remember all the saints. Martyrs known and unknown. Our loved ones, gone to glory. All Hallows is old English for All Saints, and the evening before All Saints Day is celebrated with spectres, spooks and chocolates. Weird what we choose to celebrate, and how!
The ancient tradition and ritual of the Celts was to wear scary costumes with painted faces, and to light bonfires, to scare away the ghosts of any who weren’t saints and who might be stalking around on the evening before the Saints were remembered and celebrated. An overnight vigil was often kept by the church, leading into November 1st, All Saints Day, and November 2nd, All Souls Day.
We still ‘celebrate’ Halloween; and some Christians still celebrate All Saints Day, which began in the 8th Century to remember, honour and give thanks for Christians, known and unknown, who have died. It’s followed by All Souls day on November 2nd, when people pray for those who have died. And the International day of prayer for the Persecuted Church is usually held at this time too, often on the first Sunday of November, followed by Remembrance Sunday on the second Sunday of November to commemorate those who died during the first and second World Wars.
So these few days of remembering and celebrating those who have died is a very profound and special time, especially perhaps for many of us who have already lost loved ones. A time to grieve and mourn, to give thanks and to remember.
Allhallowtide is 3 days in particular - October 31st, November 1st and November 2nd. 3 special days of remembering.
And to help you or those you know who are remembering and grieving, there’s a very special offer on SCENT OF WATER: 35% discount with code FK5AMCI

“I have read many devotionals and love them as an aid to my worship and quiet times. But this particular one has moved me profoundly as it is so real. . . . This is the profoundly timely message that has wrapped itself around my heart as I've read through the pages of Penelope's life giving devotional.” - Tracy Williamson, Marilyn Baker Ministries.
“I bought your book for my mother-in-law for Christmas: my father-in-law passed away in June. She's said she's so thankful for your words, and knowing she's not the only one to have felt/wrestled with certain things. Your mother sounds very special: so ishe book she inspired. Thank you.” - Lindsay Rumbold
